As part of our work to build our understanding of New Zealand and to forge stronger connections here, the Embassy of Ireland has invited young people to join our Youth Council. We were delighted with the response we received from across the country and with the variety of events we have been able to hold in collaboration with our members.
These activities have been all about giving young people the opportunity to engage with and advise us on key issues and areas of work, as well as to learn and develop skills for the future. Council members in 2023 joined various events hosted online & off-line by the Embassy. In addition, we introduced an innovative mentorship programme with the support of some special Friends of Ireland. All of this is helping to build the confidence of participants and to contribute to the development of a dynamic network of young and inspirational leaders and citizens.
